South Tyrol as a hallmark of quality of life and an innovative economic driving force: this is the goal of the South Tyrol Energy Climate Strategy 2050 (KLIMALAND Energia Alto Adige 2050). The strategy provides a roadmap for making South Tyrol, a province comprising 116 municipalities and over 509,000 inhabitants, into a true “KlimaLand”, a model region for climate protection in the heart of the Alps and a sustainable region in Europe.

The Energy Environment Plan addresses climate protection by means of a twofold strategy: the reduction of final energy consumption through the widespread deployment of energy efficiency measures; and the improved penetration of energy from renewable sources.

On March 4, 2013, the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol, Italy, transposed Directive 2010/31/EU into its legal framework through Deliberation No. 362. The directive concerns the energy performance of buildings and aims to reduce energy consumption and promote the use of renewable energies.
