The Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment (MKO) of the Republic of Slovenia is in charge of all matters related to climate change and its tasks include the preparation of climate change policies and strategies; participation in international negotiations related to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; and cooperation with stakeholders, including industry, local communities, regions and NGOs.

The ministry also successfully manages the Alpine Space Programme project ALPSTAR as a lead partner and contributes as a partner or observer to other EU projects.
